The Madrasah Centre of Excellence (MCE) of the World Federation of KSIMC is looking for additional graphic designers-cum-illustrators to work on the lessons that are currently being produced by the Curriculum Development team.  

The graphic designers will be responsible for creating design solutions for the lessons and teaching Graphic designers will be typically required to do the following:

  • Working to a brief agreed with the Project Coordinator of Curriculum Development
  • Interpreting the needs of the Curriculum Development team and developing concepts to suit 
  • Creating images which convey the correct message from the text
  • Developing graphics and images for the lessons and teaching guides
  • Creating illustrations to match the content in the lessons
  • Creating designs either by hand or using computer software packages
  • Selecting colours, images, text styles and layout
  • Working closely with lesson writers when using text in the layouts
  • Presenting the designs to the Project Coordinator at regular intervals
  • Incorporating changes recommended by the Project Coordinator into the final design
  • Review designs for errors before publishing the lessons
  • Working to strict timelines agreed with the Project Coordinator
  • Working as part of a team with the Project Coordinator, the Head of Curriculum Development Team, lesson writers and other designers.

Important Qualities:

- Analytical skills. Graphic designers must be able to look at their work from the point of view of the children and teachers and examine how the designs they develop will be perceived by them to ensure that they convey the desired message.

- Artistic ability. Graphic designers must be able to create designs that are artistically interesting and appealing to the children and teachers. 

- Communication skills. Graphic designers must communicate with the Project Coordinator, lesson writers and other designers to ensure that their designs accurately reflect the desired message and effectively express information.

- Computer skills. Graphic designers should be familiar with design programs such as InDesign, QuarkXPress, FreeHand, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3ds Max, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver and Flash.

Creativity. Graphic designers must be able to think of new approaches to communicating the Time-management skills. Graphic designers must be able to estimate the time required to complete each lesson and to adhere to the timelines.

Hours: minimum 20 hours a week with flexibility on a need to need basis.

Remuneration: Negotiable, as per experience.
