This number is even higher if you count those who have been rescued from this ISIS besieged town. But the continuing aid and rescue missions from the Iraqi government are insufficient to solve this problem.

Ayatullah Ali Sistani, said through his representative, Abd al-Mehdi al-Karbalai, “We appeal to the relevant sides to work sincerely in breaking the siege” [We also call for] saving the brave town’s citizens from the dangers of the terrorists.” Ayatullah Sistani added, “The speeding up of the air delivery of food to the people of Amerli is a top priority at this time.” Muslim Turkmen town of Amerli has been besieged by ISIS for over 70 days.

Ayatullah Ali Sistani wants to change this. Having called for a more efficient delivery of food and supplies to the people of this town, and more importantly, talks amongst political groups, there is a major hope that this authority and publicity that he has given will finally besiege this town for the better.
