This week is National Blood Week; Who is Hussain? and the Islamic Unity Society’s Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign are collaborating to encourage people to become life savers by becoming blood donors. The NHS requires a colossal 7, 000 units of blood per day; with those from rarer blood groups being in chronic shortage. Ethnic minorities are more likely to have rarer blood groups, so we ask you to come forward and give back.

If you are over the age of 17, in general good health and weigh at least 50kg, you can give blood and save up to 3 lives!

Your blood will help a variety of people from those who have lost blood due to trauma or surgery to those with inherited blood disorders such as thalassemia or sickle cell anaemia.

Many people would not be alive today if it wasn’t for the generosity of blood donors.

Remember: The Blood Donor of today may be the recipient of tomorrow.

Give the precious gift of life - Give Blood. Save lives.
