The World Federation India Office successfully organises Girls’ Residential Youth Course

2013

The World Federation India Office held a Residential Youth Course for girls aged 10 to 15 years on 4th and 5th June 2013. The fees were subsidised by The World Federation to INR 750 (USD 14) per student which included lodging, boarding, travelling, meals and refreshments.

This course aimed to promote Islamic guidance and support, address social topics, work on personality development and gaming activities. The course was held at Khoja Sanatorium, at India’s famous Hill Station, Khandala.

The course was attended by 30 girls of the community. There was a mentor for every 6 students that were grouped as planets.

Mentors and Tutors were carefully chosen and a very strong and highly motivated team was formed consisting of a doctor, a psychologist, a professional English tutor, a banker, and an entrepreneur. There was also an Alima who provided Islamic guidance and support.  All programmes were conducted by female professionals.

The course was divided into lectures, assessments, personal development and sight-seeing. The lectures were designed to be interactive rather than a one-way communication.

Topics that were covered: Hijab, Puberty, Importance of Namaz including Namaz e Shab, Lessons from the life of the Aimmah (as), Public Speaking, Women’s Security, Time Management, Effective Communication and Social Media.

The course ended with an azadari session to commemorate the shahadat of the 7th Imam, H. Musa e Kazim (as).

Sayyid Aliraza Naqvi, ASG Islamic Education, says: ‘This is another mile stone achieved by the World Federation’s India Office, and such a course has never taken place before in India. I take this opportunity to thank Sister Zainab Virani, the Tutors and the Mentors to make this programme a grand success. God willing, we will conduct more such programmes on a regular basis.’
