The World Federation of KSIMC strongly condemns the violence which occurred yesterday at the Imam Al Sadiq (as) Mosque, Kuwait City, which took the lives of at least 27 worshippers and injured at least 200 more.
We cannot express the extent of our grief upon learning of this attack. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences are with the victims’ families and all those affected.
In this holy month of Ramadhan – the month of peace and togetherness – there can be no room for doubt that such heinous and vile actions run against the very grain of both the spirit of Islam and our common humanity.
The World Federation stands alongside the Kuwaiti people and commits to doing whatever is necessary to heal the wounds of yesterday’s bloodshed. Across the region, such targeted attacks are all too common and we urge all governments to take the necessary steps to bring an end to this senseless cycle of violence.
Amidst the the grief, suffering and anger following yesterday’s incident, we will forget neither the image of a Kuwaiti city hospital overcrowded with locals waiting to give blood, nor the image of Sunnis and Shias lining up next to one another in prayer for the deceased. As we digest not only the events in Kuwait, but also those in France and Tunisia, we remember the Quranic teaching: "Verily, with hardship there is relief." (Qur'an 94:6).
