The Secretariat of the Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaats of Africa and the Secretariat of the Territorial Councils of Madagascar (CROI) and Reunion (UAKSIR) received with shock and grief the sad news of the sudden death of Alhaj Mounisse Raza Fidahoussen Nourah which occurred on Tuesday, 30th January 2018 (12th Jamadil Awwal 1439 A.H.) in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
Marhum was the President of KSI Jamaat of Antananarivo which is the largest Jamaat among the 16 Jamaats under the Territorial Council of Madagascar (CROI). Marhum has a long history of social services in the community, and outside the community.
Mounisse Raza bhai was born in 1966 in Morondava to Alhaj Fidahoussen Nourah Saleh and Rukiya Bai Jaffer Jiwa. In 1969 his parents moved to Majunga where he lived till year 2000. At a young age of just 12 years the natural charisma in him was obvious. He was enticed towards voluntary services by respectable elders, Marhum Alhaj Roshan Jamil, Marhum Alhaj Mohamedali Vasram and Alhaj Bakar Vasram.
Mounisse Raza bhai served as a volunteer in Majunga Jamaat in various capacities e.g. Madressah, decoration committee as well as mosque cleaning committee. He later served as a Jamaat committee member and thereafter as a delegate and councilor representing Jamaat in the Territorial Council of Madagascar.
Later, he served as Secretary General during the term of Alhaj Aziz bhai Asgharali Moledina, and later for 3 months as acting President of Majunga Jamaat. He was then declared President of Majunga Jamaat in 1994 for a transitional period of 24 months. During this period he started the first ever housing project for the needy and a school. In a record of 9 months from its conception, the school was opened.
From Majunga he moved to Tulear where he also served as President of the Jamaat. Here he re-developed an unused nyaz hall into 7 shops creating good income for the Jamaat. He also was instrumental in transferring about thirteen trust land and properties in Tulear into the Jamaat’s name.
Mounisse Raza bhai has also served as the Secretary General of Conseil Regional of Madagascar (CROI) from year 2010 to 2013. In 2016, he aspired for the post of President of KSI Jamaat of Antananarivo; he was elected to the post for the term 2016 – 2018. Marhum had a great vision for the Jamaat, especially in education for the children, both secular and religious.
Marhum was a strong believer in reformation and transformation in the midst of the basic needs of the community. He was an eloquent speaker and would inspire youths towards volunteering, social services and sports. Marhum was also a good reciter of Marsias, Nauhas and Qasidahs. He leaves behind his wife, Masuma Bai and three children, Ayaz, Djinane and Ateka.
In his condolence message to Sheikh Haniphe Akbaraly, Chairman of Territorial Council of Madagascar, Alhaj Shabir Najafi had the following to say:
“I am deeply grieved on the sudden death of Alhaj Mounisse Raza Nourah with whom I had close relations since the time Marhum was the Secretary General of CROI in the year 2010, Marhum worked tirelessly with the office bearers of CROI and played crucial role in reviving good working relationships between Africa Federation and CROI during the Chairmanship of Alhaj Goulamaly Sabirhoussen and Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi. Sadly, the community has lost a good and a visionary social worker who always cared for the wellbeing of the community. We pray for the Maghferat of the departed soul and we pray to Allah (SWT) to grant Marhum’s family solace to bear this irreparable loss”.
Alhaj Shabir Najafi along with Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan and Alhaj Amine Nassor met Marhum in Antananarivo recently during the 34th Regional Council General Assembly held on 26th – 27th January 2018, as the host Jamaat President; he was present in all sessions and in all functions organized by CROI and Antananarivo Jamaat. Marhum was keen towards establishment of a proper school for children to obtain good standard of education. He worked very hard to ensure the stone-laying ceremony was held on Sunday, 28th January, 2018 at Al Mourtouza complex near Gamo. We are thankful to Allah (SWT) for giving us the opportunity to provide the initial support he requested for the school. Insha’allah, this project will remain as a landmark in remembrance of Alhaj Mounisse Raza Nourah.
Marhum Mounisse Raza bhai was a committed person who devoted his valuable time and resources in the cause of spreading the religion of Islam and the Madha’b of Ahlulbayt (A.S.). Marhum was a dedicated and farsighted leader; his passing away is a big loss not only to his family but to the entire community.
On behalf of everyone at the Africa Federation, we convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, to the Chairman and Office Bearers of CROI, President and Office Bearers of KSI Jamaat of Antananarivo and to the members of all other Jamaats in Madagascar.
We pray to Allah (S.W.T.) to grant Marhum a lofty position in the proximity of our Aeema-e-Tahireen (A.S.), Ameen.
We request Mumineen to remember Marhum with Sura-e-Fateha for the maghferat of the departed soul.
