Helping pupils with ADHD
A Year 5 class teacher, found a number of strategies that help the statemented ADHD pupils and proved useful with the rest of the class.
Consistent and clear boundaries are important - putting rules in place at the start of the year and ensuring all staff stick to them. Also, chunking lessons and keeping them active helps. Other ideas include having an un-cluttered classroom, minimal and well-organised displays. Judicious use of rewards for basic good behaviour motivates SEN pupils.
