Dr Moledina | Busy times ahead

Dear community members,

Salaamun Alaykum,

I would like to express my condolences to the Holy Imam of our time and I pray that our participation in this year’s Azadari is our source of salvation.

I am penning this from Iraq where I am performing the Ziyarat of Aba Abdillah this Arbaeen. I plan on visiting the Grand Marajas’ of Najaf and will pass on your salaams and prayers for their health, long life and continued strength to be able to serve the Ummah. I will be seeking counsel from them for our community, inshAllah. I will also be visiting ongoing WF projects to review progress and hope to have some updates for you soon.

Your community institution is always busy with a number of projects and ongoing work being done behind the scenes by the team.

Our next executive council meeting is in December and will be held in Reunion inshAllah and the team are all very busy preparing for this. I, along with the rest of the team, am really looking forward to visiting the Reunion Islands and meeting with our community members there. The agenda for this meeting can be seen here.

We also have the Inaugural Khoja Studies Conference coming up in December in Paris, where academics will be discussing Khoja heritage. The conference is being convened by Shaykh Kumail Rajani and Dr Hasnain Walji from The World Federation, Michel Boivin from EHESS, Paris and Dr Iqbal Aktar from Florida International University. You can find out more information, including how to register, here.

The Islamic Education team are working on preparations for the Couples Retreat in Iran in 2017. This is a fantastic opportunity for couples to gain a deeper understanding of Islam and each other whilst performing the Ziyarat of Imam al-Ridha (AS) and Sayyida Fatima al-Ma’sooma (AS). Applications are still open but we have had a lot of interest so I would advise applying soon to avoid missing out!

The WF Aid team is presently raising funds for the mental health treatment of Syrian refugees in Lebanon. We cannot even begin to imagine some of the hardships they've suffered through as they fled Syria. Even though they are in a safe country, their ordeal is far from over. The psychological scars this has left them with are unspeakable. I urge you all to give what you can to this most worthy cause.

The end of the calendar year also means we will be releasing our 2017 year planner very soon inshAllah! We have had a lot of requests about this and I am really glad so many of you find this service useful. The calendars will be posted to anyone who has requested for one either this year, or last year. If you have not, please fill out this form and they will be sent to you inshAllah.

On these Holy nights, I humbly request for you all to remember each other in your duas and pray for peace and harmony in these challenging times.

With Salaams & Duas,

Dr Asgar Moledina

President, The World Federation of KSIMC
