A Tale of True Love - ‘The Story of Nabi Yusuf (a.s.)’ by Ali Azhar Arastu

The story of Prophet Yusuf (a.s.) is famous and timeless. This story has been highlighted by the Almighty Himself in the Qur’an as one of the best examples of principle, modesty and true love – that for Allah (SWT).

The author in this book has taken a fresh view at the study and analysis of this story using Surah Yusuf as his basis. The story has been divided into the various major stages of the life of Yusuf (a.s.) with the relevant verses relating to them. Each verse then has a set of lessons derived from it and references to similar lessons in other verses of the Qur’an.

Where applicable, the author has also included the Biblical version of events for comparison and contrast. This aspect, along with the vast (yet simple) range of lessons from each verse and the large number of translations used as reference make this a book that is filled with valuable knowledge.

The brief bullet-point style also makes it easy reading for young and old alike. Muallim Murtaza Bandali, who recently read the book, says: “What I have found to be useful and interesting in this book is that the author has … made use of the translations of a few translators of the Qur’an.  This is important for the sake of ensuring simplicity and better understanding of the verses to the readers. Also… (what) makes the book more interesting and useful is the lessons that we derive from the story coming from the best source, the Qur’an.”

The Story of Nabi Yusuf (a.s.) is available at The World Federation bookshop both in hard copy and as an e-book.
