ZCSS Muharram Appeal: Teaching children how to fish

We have heard the Chinese proverb “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” The same can be said about education.  We often make donations here and there which provide short term assistance to families in need.  This will allow families to eat a few meals or perhaps give them clothing or even shelter.  This is most definitely a help to families, but only bandages the situation, and doesn’t provide a solution to the problem.

Supporting the education of a child gives him the opportunity to build a foundation that will allow him to become independent and self-sufficient. Through an education he will be able to work towards long term goals and a stable future.

What a better way to offer support to a child then to sponsor his education – a gift that will stay with them for years to come.  Education will give them the tools that they need to make their dreams a reality, the ability to earn an income and support themselves and their family, and the strength to enable them to get out of the vicious cycle of debt and poverty.

With your support we can help children learn to fish and eat for a lifetime.  Join ZCSS today and make a difference in the lives of those who need it.

ZCSS (Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme) is an initiative of The World Federation started by Marhum Mulla Asghar and has been running for over 30 years. The World Federation of KSMIC’s education objective is to empower communities with the ability to become self-sufficient. The most efficient method of reducing illiteracy is through education. This sponsorship scheme supports young students in less advantaged Shia populated areas of the world in order for them to complete their education, ranging from Primary through to higher education.

Sponsoring a child through The World Federation’s Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) undoubtedly begins a domino effect that carries over ten fold.  When you help to educate a child, you are helping to educate a nation.  Let’s give access to education to everyone, because everyone deserves a chance to learn.

ZCSS has made a difference in the lives of thousands ~ but this would not be possible without the support of sponsors like you.

ZCSS works in Kenya, Tanzania, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Haiti. The scheme started with a humble few students and over the years has supported over 25,000 students, many of whom who have succeeded in changing their lives, the lives of their families and their communities.

We have often heard, give up a cup of coffee to help a child, but do we do it?  Perhaps we think that such a small contribution won’t make a difference, or maybe we tell ourselves we will get to it but don’t or we tell ourselves someone else will do it so we don’t have to.

But what if you did?

There are currently over 7 billion people living on Earth, and the world illiteracy rate is just shy of 900 million people. The sad reality is that amongst these are thousands of children that have no hope of ever getting a chance to educate themselves or escape poverty.
