ZCSS: Your Help, Your Support….Your Community

“It is the men of knowledge who can truly realise God.” (35:28)

Let’s set the scene…. imagine it’s 1996 in a rural village in India…the sun is hot and the skies are clear and blue.

A child, called Salim awoke to the sounds of his father telling him mum “….there’s no point in him going to school!  He should be out working and helping out around the house….we need the money!” This was a common morning welcome for Salim, the youngest of 7 siblings, whose father was a tailor on extremely low income.  His father worked day and night to provide little food and rent…there are some days that his father would bring home a hand full of banana’s and they would all have to share and eat only half, there were other days where they had have nothing to eat.

Salim had dreams and ambitions. Seeing his elder brothers start work from a young age and lead a hard life, only worked to strengthen Salim’s dreams of educating himself and becoming a doctor and to serve his small village in India.

He prayed every day …”O Allah (SWT) please help me achieve my dreams and work towards helping people…I’m tired of this life of poverty and I know you are testing me…my family….please give us the strength to pass this test and please create a way for me to study”

There were many such incidents and real life stories that were seen first-hand by Marhum Mulla Asgar M M Jaffer (the then president of The World Federation) throughout developing countries, where students with talent and ambition don’t get the opportunity to make a difference in their life and the lives of others, due to poverty.  It doesn’t have to be this way and for over 30 years, through ZCSS, you have successfully educated over 11,000 students who have gone on to lead thriving lives.   You have helped this community go from strength to strength.  You have given these Shia students the tools to become self-sufficient.

Now more than ever we need your support.  This Muharram we are looking for 2,000 sponsors for needing and deserving students.  Will you honour the sacrifice of Imam Husayn (AS) and his family by supporting a needy Shia?  A deserving believer of the Ahlul Bayt (AS)?  Will you be a part of earning sawab-e-jaria?  Will you sponsor a student today and help them overcome poverty through education?

From only £10/ USD $20 a month for a Primary School student or £55 / USD $90 for a Further Education student, you can change the life of a Shia child, you can give them the support and help to realise their dreams and the dreams of our community.

“In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us” - Flora Edwards

It is a common known fact that education plays a major role in the success of an individual.  However in many countries the gap between male and female literacy levels exists because women have been discouraged from receiving the same educational benefits as men.  Women also have less of an opportunity to pursue an education due to financial constraints, and often the males of the family are educated and the females are not.
