Our Students Are Not Statistics

Over the past couple of decades, Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme has helped over 25,000 young people. However, our work isn't just about numbers.  We are also involved in learning about the students we help and ensuring that they receive required support.  These children are our children.

On 30th November 2016, Asad Virani, Manager of The World Federation India Office, visited Husaini Education and Welfare Society Trust Office (HEWST) in Bhavnagar, Gujarat to see the Higher Education work being carried out by WF through this agency.

HEWST was founded in 1975 and after Marhum Mulla Asghar visited it in 1986, WF began to work with it, funding its activities from 1988/89.  In 2010 WF also began funding Higher Education for a variety of degrees.

Asad bhai had the pleasure of meeting the Trustee, Sajjad bhai Varteji, the manager and staff. He was impressed to see that the staff are in regular contact with students, checking their progress and keeping the files fully updated with all the necessary details from the start of a sponsorship.  Each grant is approved only after a stringent due diligence check.

In addition to factual record keeping, Trustee Sajjad bhai actively counsels students, helping them to maintain their motivation and drive.  Higher Education in India can be very expensive and thus, unaffordable to some of our community youth. With the help of donors like yourself, ZCSS is able to allow students to follow their dreams of qualifying in fields such as medicine, accountancy, engineering etc.  By doing so, they not only raise the living standards of their families, but also the communities they live in.

The sponsorship cost per higher education student is only £55 per month. Every student who has been sponsored so far, has expressed deep gratitude towards and prayers for their sponsor for giving them an opportunity to escape the poverty trap they were in.
