Mass Marriage Program (March 2014): Gift a Wedding Package to 100 couples – Skardu, Pakistan

Marriage is highly recommended in Islam and Allah (swt) says in the Holy Qur’an (24:32):  “Marry the spouseless among you…if they are poor, God will enrich them of His bounty.”

In many parts of the developing world, men and women never marry – not because they don’t want to, but because they simply cannot afford to. The World Federation has identified 100 such couples in Pakistan’s northern city of Skardu who struggle with poverty and who need a little assistance to realize their wedding dreams.

In Skardu, Pakistan, these deserving couples are preparing for their wedding day scheduled to take place the first week of March 2014. The World Federation has been supporting mass marriage programs in Pakistan for a number of years and this year we need your help to support these engaged couples by gifting them a ‘Wedding Package’.

A ‘Wedding Package’ includes the wedding day outfit for the bride and groom, garlands, a community dinner (waleeema) and a home starter kit. The home starter kit is gifted to each couple and includes basic kitchen and household items to give the newlyweds a encouraging start to their new lives together.

• The cost of one ‘Wedding Package’ is £421 GBP / $690 USD-CAD (per couple)
