As part of our COVID-19 response in Africa, your donations funded the extension of the Ebrahim Haji Hospital New Wing in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
At the beginning of the pandemic, the decision was made by the jamaat to create a new wing for the hospital and renovate some of the existing facilites. The whole project took just 45 days to complete, making it operational and ready for patients during the peak of the outbreak.
As soon as we appealed to you, our generous community, we received an influx of donations and pledges of support. We were able to support the renovation and extension of the hospital wing as well as the installation of a lift and purchasing of equipment for the hospital, including ventilators, CPAP machines, and cardiac monitors. The hospital has many facilities, including ICU wards, MRI scans, and various testing procedures, providing high-quality treatment to patients.
The hospital wing, which was used solely for COVID patients, will be transformed into maternity and pediatrics wards for use for the community going forward. You can see more from the Ebrahim Haji Hospital here:

Volunteering as an approach is built around and altruistic mindset of giving without any financial gain. This mindset, whilst quite basic as an Islamic approach, is one that is not necessarily inculcated within our children’s’ upbringing. The spirit of giving is usually at best confined to within the home or at best with the family.
