As of October 2015, over 705,000 refugees have fled to Europe on unseaworthy boats and dinghies across the Mediterranean Sea. More than 3,200 refugees have died or are missing. In response to this emergency, The World Federation and the Council of European Jamaats (CoEJ) partnered to provide humanitarian aid to the thousands of refugees arriving on the Greek island of Lesvos.

The World Federation of KSIMC Joins
Muslim Charities Forum (MCF)
The World Federation is honoured to join the Muslim Charities Forum’s Board of Trustees. Our Head of International Development, Shan e Abbas Hassam will be representing the organisation in the capacity of a trustee.
The World Federation, being followers of the creed of the Ahlul Bayt, is passionate about making a difference in the most impoverished communities and we are constantly exploring opportunities to further our impact. We believe that being a part of MCF will enable us to create even more opportunities for the most deserving communities.
MCF is an umbrella organisation for Muslim-led international NGOs, based in the UK that supports the networking and sharing of resources between charities in order to strengthen individual as well as collective structure.
By joining the MCF we will be better placed to fulfil our mission of “We Exist To Serve”, working alongside distinguished charities such as Human Appeal International, Human Relief Foundation, Islamic Relief, Muslims Hands and Penny Appeal, amongst others. Our president, Dr Asgar Moledina said, ‘The working together with MCF will give us an opportunity to reach out to the wider moderate Muslim community and expand our relief work to the needy world over. It will also increase our interaction with the other MUSLIM communities and in turn make it possible to tap the necessary resources from this wider group. This year, as we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we aim to build on the legacy left by Marhum Mulla Asghar and reach more people in need’.
MCF members have a collective income of £150,000,000 and the impact of its relief and international development work is felt in 71 countries.
Upon achieving this milestone, Shan E Abbas Hassam - Head of WF AID - said, "We are delighted to join the Muslim Charities’ Forum and are confident that The World Federation’s membership will provide greater opportunities to build networks outside of our own faith. This is part of WF AID’s wider strategy of leveraging The World Federation’s NGO Status and creating strong partnerships for collective projects and actions, as well as promoting the work of our community outside of our community’s structures."
