The second day of the fifteenth Triennial Conference proved to be notably productive, covering a wide range of topics.
Since the launch of the Muharram 1437 - ALI ASGHAR WATER APPEAL to build 40 water wells in 40 days in the deprived areas of Kenya and Syria, 11 wells have been sponsored. With 19 days left in the campaign, we need your support to build another 29 wells so that more disadvantaged families can look forward to an improved quality of life with access to clean and safe water.
Remember the voices of the children of Karbala pleading for a drink of water. Remember the heart of Hazarat Abbas (as) which would not rest without making every effort to quench the thirst of these children. Hazarat Abbas’s legacy lives on in the Ali Asghar Water Appeal where millions of children today struggle to find clean water to drink, to bathe in and to wash their hands in. What wouldn’t Hazrat Abbas do for these children if he were here today?
Water is a lifesaver, but it can also be a major threat to human life when it’s contaminated. Contaminated water is the root cause of many water-borne diseases which are usually caused when a person drinks, bathes in, washes with or prepares food with water that has been polluted by bacteria, viruses or parasites, usually from human or animal waste. Types of water-borne diseases include diarrhea, dysentery and cholera to name a few.
In addition to the already polluted water, Kenya has another problem in that it is a chronically water-scarce country. The growing population and climate change are a huge concern to the country’s water shortage. Building wells is an alternative source to clean water for the people of Kenya
