ZCSS Success Story – Improving lives and building futures

Updated 31 July 2013

Rajab Tsuma, now 23 years old joined class one at Jaffery Primary School sixteen years ago.  As his family was not able to send Rajab to school, he was sponsored by ZCSS in 1997.  In 2005 Rajab completed class 8 with a score of 314 in the KCPE examination.

As Rajab studied he realized the importance of education - especially because he was fortunate enough to have the support of ZCSS and Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya (BMMK).  He worked hard to meet the targets set out before him so that he may continue with his sponsorship and attained a score of C+ in the KCSE in 2009.  From there he applied for a Teachers training course at Meru Teachers College which he completed in August of 2012.

Building future generations
After completing his studies, Rajab moved from the role of the student to that of a teacher.  He is currently working as an IRE teacher at Jaffery Primary School.  Not only is Rajab supporting his family, he is laying the foundation of education for the students that sit before him; eager to learn.

Rajab thanks ZCSS and BMMK for their support.

Through the assistance of ZCSS, Rajab has not only built a solid foundation for himself and his family, he is giving back to his community.  Had he not received the support he needed at such a young age, his life could have been on a completely different path.  His successes through ZCSS are now allowing him to change the lives of young minds around him.

ZCSS – the potential to help one individual and change the lives of several
Rajab’s story reaffirms the belief that the most efficient method of reducing illiteracy is through education. The World Federation aims to enable growth and progress through this most powerful of mediums. This will create a generation of independent, skilled individuals who will work together to lift their communities out of poverty.

All over the world, there are families that are barely able to put food on the table, let alone afford an education for their children.  That’s where supporters of ZCSS come in.  Through the Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) children have the opportunity to learn and be educated.  They have the chance to obtain the foundation to make a better future for themselves and their families.

And all this is possible through sponsorships from people like you.

Around the world, almost 61 million children are deprived access to basic education.  In 2008, an estimate stated that 60% of these children are girls.  And within developing nations, the completion rate of primary school between the two genders is greater than 10%.  Almost 100 million girls worldwide who start primary school don’t finish and the numbers rise for secondary education where it is not possible for more than 200 million children.  The gender gap between boys and girls rises even more within the enrollment and completion of secondary school.

Alhamdulillah, students who have received assistance through the Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) program have moved on to complete their education and started building careers which allow them not only to become self-sufficient and independent but also improve the lives of their families.  They are becoming the first generation in their families to receive an education and secure skilled work as a means to earn their living. They are uplifting themselves and their families from the cycle of poverty through education.
