Encouraging Piety Through Publishing

The inception of Meraj Educational Publishers of Bilal Muslim Mission of Scandinavia - Märsta - Sweden took place in 1988 after a trip for the Holy Ziyarat of Iraq and with the blessings of late Marhum Ayatullah al-Uzma Abul Qasim al-Khui and late Marhum Mulla Asgharali M.M. Jaffer.

Over the past 27 years we have been blessed to have found competent native Swedish translators who have been able to help us create publications that are more acceptable within the country.

The Mission is also thankful to late Mulla Saheb who extended his support, faith and trust in the work of the Mission. His vision was to extend the message of Islam to 40,000,000 Scandinavians and beyond, a challenge for us as Scandinavian countries require more field work as Islam is fairly a new religion within them.

Our experience has taught us that the countries where educational Islam has a greater sense of awakening are those where the people who are well-educated. We have thus focused on libraries and schools to serve as our teaching institutes.

Our publications have also reached further parts of the world including Japan, Korea, India, United States (in 12 presidential libraries!), Canada, South America, and Europe.

Besides educational projects, the Mission has also been involved in humanitarian assignments including Water-wells, Eye Care, Walking aid and Tree planting. Our motto has been to “open the doors of schools and close the doors of prisons.”

We came to Sweden empty-handed as refugees but with Allah (SWT)’s blessings and the support of many around us, we have been able to live here and leave the message of the Ahlul Bayt (as) amongst the people, Alhamdulillah.

We pray to the Almighty that He continue to lend us His Mercy and Assistance to continue this mission.
