Mount Kilimanjaro: An Adventurous 50 year-old Gives Back to the Community

In just a few weeks’ time a member of our local Stanmore Jamaat, who also happens to be the father of one of our team members, will begin a journey of a lifetime to help our community. Munawar Ali Jaffer is less than 2 weeks away from turning 50 and plans to celebrate this by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - the world’s highest free-standing  mountain - with a group of friends in order to give back to the community.

By embarking on this courageous journey Munawar Jaffer hopes to raise money for The World Federation as a way of contribution towards its various projects. On his JustGiving donation page he writes: “I am planning to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for The World Federation of KSIMC because education and community matters.”

The almost 20,000 foot climb will begin on 26th February 2015 via the Lemosho Route, where he will start his expedition, and he will - insha’Allah - reach the summit on 5th March 2015. Approximately 35,000 tourists attempt the full ascent every year, however temperatures can drop as low as -20°C so this trip is anything but a walk in the park.

Why not express your admiration for Munawar Jaffer and help him further the success of The World Federation by clicking here to donate. (P.S. Click on the orange button to donate to this particular cause!)

If you are a UK tax payer please don’t forget to confirm this when donating.  Doing so will mean an extra 25% in Gift Aid (tax relief) added to every donation straight from the UK Government and if you are a higher rate tax payer you should still qualify for a tax refund.
