Fill My Cup ‘Back to School’ Campaign: ‘Dreaming a Destiny 2013’ cast and crew raise $3,715 for children in Kenya – Vancouver, Canada

On Saturday 21 September 2013, over 350 people attended ‘Dreaming a Destiny 2013’ - a play about the life of Prophet Yusuf (as) held in Vancouver, Canada. The production was put on by Vancouver’s own Madrasah Az-Zahraa and performed by the students themselves.

6 months ago, over 50 students came out to audition for the play and about 40 individuals were selected to take part. After months of practicing and loads of behind the scenes preparations, the cast put on a performance that ended in a standing ovation.

The play fostered new friendships and brought the community closer together. Thanks to the commitment of the cast, the support of the crew, the parents and the sponsors, ‘Dreaming a Destiny 2013’ lived beyond the expectations of the audience – including stage props, costumes and of course, the acting.

To help those children who are struggling with the grips of poverty, ‘Dreaming a Destiny 2013’ took this opportunity to fundraise for The World Federation’s ‘Fill My Cup – Back to School Campaign’. Thanks to their efforts, they helped raise a total of $3,715 CAD for this program. This kind of support is a wonderful tribute to the values that Prophet Yusuf (as) stood for – ‘Dreaming a Destiny’ is a story of love, a story of patience, a story of forgiveness, and a story of trust.

The World Federation would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the cast and crew of ‘Dreaming a Destiny 2013’ and would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude for remembering the deserving children of Kenya and including them in their success.

FILL MY CUP ‘BACK TO SCHOOL’ CAMPAIGN

The World Federation’s ‘Fill My Cup – Back to School Campaign’ addresses hunger by providing a hot cup of nutritional porridge for breakfast to deserving children across 15 schools in Kenya. Since the launch of this appeal in 2011, The World Federation has filled over 50,000 cups with hot porridge!

For only $3 USD-CAD / £2 GBP per month per child, you can make sure that each of these children is served a nutritious cup of porridge every morning before they begin their school day.

This year, as our eager students in Kenya get ready to go back to school, let us support them so that they can work hard to the best of their ability. For these children, a good breakfast really does mean a good future.
