Winters in Pakistan are extremely cold and dry, lasting from December through to February. In December 2014, The World Federation through its Hadith-e-Kisa Blanket Drive distributed 1,830 ‘Razai’ blankets.
The Ali Asghar Water Appeal is an ongoing initiative by The World Federation to provide access to clean water and sanitation facilities in areas of deprivation. In many parts of the developing world, women and children walk for miles to fetch drinking water. Security is a common concern among these women who are forced to walk long distances through isolated areas in search of water. Children forgo school to help carry as many water cans to meet their family’s needs.
In December 2013, The World Federation funded the construction of 101 hand pumps across Pakistan’s poorest villages. Thanks to donors from around the world, all of these hand pumps are now complete and families have easy access to drinking water.
These new hand pumps will benefit the local people in so many different ways:
- Families can live with dignity
- Clean water will improve the health of the community
- Increase life expectancy
- Bring substantial economic gains – healthier adults can go to work to earn an income for their families
- Women and children can take advantage of educational opportunities with more time on their hands
- Access to water will improve crop harvests
PLEASE HELP MORE FAMILIES TO ACCESS CLEAN WATER
The World Federation is looking for donors to help fund the construction of wells and sanitation facilities across the developing world. Please support the ALI ASGHAR WATER APPEAL with your generous contribution and help more families in Pakistan to easily access clean water with the installation of new hand pumps. For every hand pump you sponsor, we will have a memorial plaque made on your behalf and place it next to the new well. The cost of this project is as follows:
